John 14:12-14 NIV
Very truly I tell you, whoever believes in me will do the works I have been doing, and they will do even greater things than these, because I am going to the Father.  And I will do whatever you ask in my name, so that the Father may be glorified in the Son.  You may ask me for anything in my name, and I will do it.

God has given the son all power,(Matthew 28:18) Christ has all the power of heaven and earth, it is important to pray in the name of Jesus, in the name that is above any other name (Philippians 2:9). I can remember so many times how God has answered prayer for my husband and I.  We who are the people of God have been given authority from God in his name.  We receive by faith and have confidence in the word he gave us knowing he will do what we ask.  Earlier in John 14 10 Jesus is telling his disciples about the father and their relationship with one another.  When we have a trusting relationship we are able to lean on the other person.  We are able to call that person up, because of our love for one another.  Jesus also tells his disciples later in John 14 17 about the helper the Holy Spirit who is to come.  The Holy Spirit will dwell with you and be in you.  It is the Holy Spirit who intercedes for us.  This Chapter speaks about a lot of things but one that sticks out to me is transition. Jesus is going to the Father and he is sending the Holy Spirit to give newness of life. Let us walk into 2016 with awareness of the presence and power of the Holy Spirit.
